Fillings, caps, and crowns - especially the older ones - can have a karat value ranging between 10 - 22. At 10 karats, a piece of metal is 40% gold. At 20 karats the gold content is 80%. Any yellow gold or silver colored dental restorations have the potential for having precious metal content. This includes the metal substructure of porcelain crowns and dental bridges. Follow our easy mail in steps below to find out how much cash your dental items are worth.
When we refer to scrap gold, most people picture only broken and damaged gold or industrial gold. In fact, "scrap gold" is a term which is used in the trade to apply to all gold items that are worth more for their metal than they are as items. Before you sell your gold or silver antiques to an antique dealer, be aware that your item may acutally be worth more for it's precious metal weight. You will be pleasantly surprised how much more than antique or jewellery value you will receive for your items from Can-Am Gold and Silver.
We also buy certain types of large diamonds. Contact us for more information.
When it comes to gold & silver, it makes no difference whether an object is damaged, dirty, or broken. We are looking for the precious metal content and are not bothered about condition. Some household items that might contain precious metals are lister below.
Wrap items in tissue and place in small envelope, then put this envelope into a larger one. Ensure that the items do not rattle and will not break through the envelopes. If sending numerous pieces, it is best to use a padded envelope. Packages with values $300+ should be sent via express post – postage will be reimbursed.

We can advise you whether you will make more profit from recycling the material or from selling it as a reusable piece. We will give you the best price for your jewelry, without the need to wait through its shelf life until a new buyer is found at our affiliated jewelry stores.
Sentimental value doesn't make your jewelry a heirloom item. We carefully assess the delivered product before deciding whether it is best recycled for scrap material, sold to a new buyer, or it can be sold to an antique collector as a heirloom item.
We usually buy fine metals only (gold, silver, palladium, platinum, etc.) but there might be exceptions. We will either offer you a price for the gems, or return them to you, after carefully reviewing the item.
